Do we really think Alabama is headed in the right direction?? It is no longer education but indoctrination--to make more future Democrat voters. True history is not being taught and more young students believe this country is evil. Click to watch video on AL State Superintendent Eric Mackey's explanation when questioned by a grandma/teacher that we still have common core!! Why do you think parents that can are homeschooling in large numbers? It is certainly not because education is headed in the right direction. Many are desperately trying to save their children but many can not still get out of public schools. We must fight for changes in public schools because a vast majority can not leave it. Hear Eric Mackey's explanation on Common Core when a grandma brings out her grandson is being taught common core and she is a teacher (click on his picture on the left and watch video.) Common Core aka College & Career Readiness has unfortunately only raised kids that are ready to protest, are easily misled and are easily manipulated. It is not about higher learning as many that graduates can't give change at McDonald's, read the Constitution (or read) but are too empathetic even toward evil because of faulty or lack of logic. It seems crazy in the beginning that they were teaching young children 2+2=5. But it makes sense as it is a system to raise generations that doesn't rely on facts but on feelings and remove respect for traditional authority--like parents. The Bible warned us and we are reaping what we have sowed. Will there be a leader that will lead us like DeSantis in Florida and save Alabama's children? See an example on the dangerous path in education (Grade 1) and what a mental health expert warns. Little by little the children are being led away from love of God and country and who God created them. You have seen the results with college students filled with anti-Semitism. When schools have the option to allow 10 min of CNN (CNN10) --you know we have a problem. Leadership not listening. Status Quo is now a dangerous path toward a dark future for citizens. Older students grade 11 or 12 are beginning to possess enough cognitive flexibility and acumen to be able to understand the complexity of issues, the nuance, and the different perspectives that the "ugly underbelly of history" may offer. But to inflict that point of view on little children is almost abusive in its effects. Warning from Mental Health Expert with over 30 years experience-Joan Landes "I agree with you that a young child's inability to handle abstract, nuanced, contextualized knowledge make teaching topics like those an exercise in gross oversimplification resulting in the parroting of black and white thinking (indoctrination). These topics are a violation of the "zone of proximal development" of great child psychologist Lev Vygotsky. His principles influence the best in student pedagogy in the last 3 generations. Teaching these complex topics to youngsters also violates child readiness since the great psychologist Jean Piaget identified 6-7 year olds in the Pre-operational stage of cognitive development. At this stage children lack systems of logic and perspective that adults have. Instead 1st graders are ego-centric ("It's my fault"), think magically (don't understand cause and effect), think concretely (can't understand complex abstract explanations), and are temporal discounters meaning they value the present rewards over the future consequences. For these reasons, teaching elementary school children about complex disasters, are not only developmentally inappropriate, the teacher must simplify the subject to such a great extent, that instead of a nuanced treatment-- the result is closer to propaganda. Young children can feel responsible for the events (ego centrism), overwhelmed by the vastness of the disaster (disempowerment), and traumatized by the impression that it affects them in the moment (temporal discounting). In addition, children that age are searching for secondary attachment figures and a sense of identity outside of the immediate family. These attachments and identities are fostered by benevolent authorities (favorite teachers etc) and healthy role models (heroes and community helpers). For that reason, it is devastating to a child's secure attachment and healthy identity when the child's country, leaders, history, and national identity (American, Italian, etc) are denigrated by portrayals of weakness or maliciousness. Children want to attach to strong, benevolent entities. When they are taught at young ages that their nation, leaders and history are weak or malicious, the children will tend to reject that attachment and seek it elsewhere. Instead of loyalty to country, a child may give their loyalty to subgroups such as Climate change activism, Immigration activism, Far Right and Far left activism, Gender activism etc. When we teach that the American system is weak or riddled with evil, we remove the ONE unifying identity that ALL citizens can unite under regardless of color, creed, religion, sex, and wealth. We are united by our identity as Americans! When we degrade patriotism we divide into warring tribes rather than unite under an inclusive national character. Older students grade 11 or 12 are beginning to possess enough cognitive flexibility and acumen to be able to understand the complexity of issues, the nuance, and the different perspectives that the "ugly underbelly of history" may offer. But to inflict that point of view on little children is almost abusive in its effects." --President Trump is doing all he can. Parents please tell your legislators and those wanting your votes..it is time to end the poisoning of the minds of children. Read here the Alabama Example of what new education program means to this elementary school--that was a National Top Ranked school to now 653rd in Alabama For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?
